Which treatments are the most profitable in your salon?

You probably know the feeling. Your schedule is fully booked, you're working hard, and by the end of the day, you've barely had a moment to sit down.

That feels like a good day.

But a fully booked schedule doesn't automatically mean every treatment is equally profitable.

One treatment might take just half an hour and require very few products. Another might take two hours, use quite a few products, and leave you earning less for every hour you work.

And that's exactly what makes this worth looking into.

It's not just about the price

Imagine you offer two treatments:

Treatment A costs €45 and takes 30 minutes.
Treatment B costs €90 and takes 90 minutes.

At first glance, treatment B seems more attractive: €90 in revenue instead of €45.

But in those same 90 minutes, you could perform treatment A three times, generating €135 in revenue.

And we haven't even considered the cost of the products you use during each treatment.

That's why the price alone doesn't tell the whole story.

What does a treatment really earn you?

To compare your treatments properly, there are three important things to consider:

  • The price you charge
  • The time it takes
  • The cost of the products you use

Put these three things together, and you might discover something surprising.

Perhaps a treatment you thought was performing really well actually takes up more time than you realised. Or maybe a treatment that seems less impressive turns out to be a great earner because it's quick to perform and requires very few products.

Of course, that doesn't mean you should only offer the treatment that generates the highest return.

It simply means you can make better decisions.

Better insights, better choices

Maybe it's time to adjust the price of a treatment. Perhaps you could schedule certain treatments more efficiently. Or you might discover that you'd like to make more room for a treatment
